Big Seed Sow Week- Earth Hour
A great big THANK YOU to all the parents and grandparents who donated 60 min (or more) for Earth Hour and joined us this week in Forest School for our Big Seed Sow Week. We were able to plant many trees, bulbs and seeds and we can’t wait to see them bloom!

Jo Jingles
The children enjoyed an Easter session of music with Jo Jingles. We practiced keeping a nice steady bit with the castanets and enjoyed jumping like bunnies and doing team work with the eggs!

Shared Education Event
We enjoyed having our friends from St Bernard’s Preschool back! The topic was Shape, Space and Measure, so we measured our snack, took part in a shape hunt and built spacious houses for our friends to fit into.
It was a day filled with friendship and laughs! We can’t wait to see you again!
Red Nose Day - Comic Relief
It’s our commitment as a Right Respecting School to support those who need it most, and to raise awareness with our Green and Red Apples.
Thank you for all the donations to Comic Relief and for taking part on our eco approach by painting your child’s nose.
Litter picking
The children were busy during the Forest School sessions this week doing some litter picking with Mrs Welsh around the school grounds.
We collected a lot of rubbish that will sadly go to landfill and, luckily a few things that can be recycled!
Great work boys and girls!
Artist in School
We were very pleased to have Julie-Anne Richmond at school helping us to make a Mother’s Day craft.
We practiced our fine motor skills and put lots of love in it for all our mums.
Can you guess what we made?
Whole School Eco meeting
On Thursday 9th March 2023 we were able to have a whole school eco-meeting. We talked about landfill and how it impacts the animals, seas and even us!
We also did a bin check and discovered that some of our teachers are not putting their rubbish in the right bin!
The children sang the Eco code very proudly and contributed with some ideas about what we can do at Knockbreda to help the environment.
Waste Week
Thank you to everyone who returned their Toy Pledge!
The children were very engaged in having conversations about reusing and recycling, and we stopped lots of toys from ending up in landfill!
Well done everyone!
Exceptional Closure- Snow and Ice
We have to advise that Knockbreda Nursery School will be closed today due to health and safety concerns for travel to and from school for children and our staff.
Please stay safe and we will see everyone in school on Monday as normal.
World Book Day
What a day of fun at Knockbreda! Costumes, parents, cupcakes and cinema! Thank you to the mums and dads that came to read stories to the children, you made our day!
Thank you everyone for your donations, we will send them to Book Aid International on your behalf.

'A Place to Wonder' Visit
We had a visit from ‘A Place to Wonder’ today which gave us some time to relax through story telling and yoga. It was a great experience and everyone enjoyed having some time to calm down in the middle of a busy day. We were great at doing the breathing exercises and even had another practice in the quiet room before lunch.
NI Rescue Service visit
A very exciting visit today from the firefighters! They talked to us about what they do and how they help people.
They asked us to check our smoke alarms at home and some of our children were able to tell them where their alarm was at home.

Planting in Forest School
Thanks to our Pollinator Grant from the LiveHereLoveHere project, we have been able to purchase some new planters, plants, trees and soil to enhance school grounds. The children have begun the planting process during the Forest School sessions and were able to talk about what the plants need to grow.

Shared Education Event - Sorting and Matching
As part of our Shared Education Partnership we were able to visit our friends from St. Bernard’s Preschool before the half-term break. We met at the Parish Centre for a Sorting and Matching Activity. The children really enjoyed it and demonstrated good early mathematical skills.
