To finish a wonderful year of Shared Partnership, Knockbreda Nursery School and St Bernard’s Pre School enjoyed a shared visit from the Petting Zoo. We had lots of fun learning about the animals together!
The children from Knockbreda Nursery School, Knockbreda Primary School, St Bernard’s Primary School and PreSchool enjoyed a carousel of activities as part of our Shared Education Fun Days. The children played together indoors, outdoors and enjoyed shared stories from the P5 pupils.
A highlight of the day was taking part in a yoga session with Laura from Primary Yoga. This session allowed the children to apply their effective listening skills; this has been a focus of our Shared Education Partnership work this year.
Many thanks to all the parents and friends of Knockbreda Nursery School, Knockbreda Primary School, St Bernard’s Pre School and St Bernard’s Primary School who joined us for Shared Education Celebration morning. This was a wonderful opportunity to socialise together and to celebrate the success of another positive year of shared partnership between our schools.
The Nursery children enjoyed visiting Knockbreda Primary School to take part in shared reading sessions with their friends from Knockbreda Primary School and St Bernard’s Primary School. After enjoying their story sessions, the children loved taking part in playground games together. What a lovely start to our summer term!

Shared Education Update
As part of our Shared Education project, each school involved in the project has benefitted from a small amount of money to spend on literacy resources. To further promote talking and listening through outdoor play, Nursery chose to spend this money on a shop for the playground. Staff have created a new Famers’ Market shop pod, which the children can visit as part of their role-play scenarios. This new play pod has been a welcome addition to the range of provision available on the playground and further embeds the staff’s vision of creating a ‘mini town’ through the role-play provision available on our playground.
The children from Knockbreda Nursery School met with their Shared Education partnership friends to enjoy a performance from Mr Hullabaloo. His animal themed story was the perfect topic starter for our work on animals from around the world, in advance of P1’s shared trip to Belfast Zoo!
The children in the Red Apples enjoyed shared Circle Time with our friends at St Bernard’s Preschool as part of our Shared Education Partnership. The children all took part in a Circle Time session about keeping fit and the importance of exercise, after which they enjoyed shared play together.
What a great day we all had! The Green Apples are looking forward to their turn to take part in shared Circle Time with St Bernard’s Preschool next month!
The children at Knockbreda Nursery School joined with their friends from Knockbreda Primary School and St Bernards to enjoy a Nativity performance from Knockbreda Primary School and a magic show by Fizz Whizz Pop! What a perfect end to our term!
We will look forward to shared play sessions and shared Circle Times together in the new year, as part of our Shared Education project.
Thank you to Paula McTaggart for leading an excellent parent training workshop at St Bernard’s Primary School. The focus of the workshop was speaking and listening and developing early literacy skills. The presentation was enthusiastic and highly active! Thank you to all the parents from across our Shared Education Partnership who attended this shared event.
The children at Knockbreda Nursery School thoroughly enjoyed meeting with their friends from the Shared Partnership programme (St Bernard's Primary School and Knockbreda Primary School) to take part in a pupil-led shared story session at Knockbreda Primary School. This event was a wonderful opportunity for the P5 children to share their excellent reading skills and for the children involved in the partnership to meet and play together outdoors.
